Work Experience
Warwickshire Wildife Trust offers work
experience for students of all ages and abilities. Students will
have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in many different
aspects of the work the Trust carries out including practical
management, environmental education and retail.
Some testimonials from students
who have spent their work experience with us:
Benedict Everitt, Lawrence Sheriff
School, 1st - 5th February 2010
'Work Experience is designed to give an
aspiring student a chance to face the reality of future jobs that
she or he may wish themselves to have. I was unsure of what I
wanted my future occupation to be, so when Brandon Marsh accepted
me for a week of Work Experience, I don't think the wealth of
experiences I had could have been better.
In the space of one week, I was tested in
such roles as teacher, office-worker, receptionist,
conservationist, lumberjack, nature surveyor and waiter-cum-cook.
All were riveting experiences, with nay a moment of boredom
throughout the entire week. They took place in some beautiful
environments, from the conference room at the visitor centre, to
local reserves to the stunning Brandon Marsh itself.
But of course, the jobs were nothing
without the people who supervised them; all roles saw me
working with the most amazing people, all of whom were totally
dedicated, friendly and helpful, which further improved the
experience.
My placement was all I could have hoped for
and more: a wonderful environment great people and incredible
diversity in jobs. I couldn't have hoped for more.
For students who love the outdoors and
nature, are prepared to get dirty, like doing different things
and meeting new people, then take my word for it, this is the work
experience placement for you.
I would like to thank all of the amazing
Brandon Marsh staff for making my week so enjoyable, and I advise
anyone to do or tell someone about this great placement.'
Isobel Bentley, Kenilworth School
and Sports College, 19th - 23rd October 2009
'I was eager to do something Geography
related for my Work Experience. I had visited Brandon Marsh several
times so I thought it would be a really interesting place to do a
week's worth of work experience. I certainly made the right
decision and had a very enjoyable, busy, week. I was nervous, as
anyone would be, but the people at the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust
were really welcoming and got me involved in so much during the
week:
Helping
Volunteers on conservation work at nearby meadow and nature
reserve
Arts and
Craft
Helping at
after school lessons
Joining in on
a tour around the grounds
I learnt so many new skills and found out
loads about what the Trust actually do. It also gave me some ideas
about a future career.'
