Really Wild Workshops for Children

Entertaining education at holiday times for 4 - 11 year old.
Parents must accompany 4-7 year olds at all times and are welcome to accompany older children during activities.

Big Bug Hunt

Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Learn all about the minibeasts creeping in the undergrowth. Make a model minibeast.

 

Tuesday 27th July

Amazing Amphibians
Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Search the murky depths of Dragonfly Pond for newts and hunt in the arboretum for young frogs and toads. Learn about these fascinating creatures. Create your own model frog pond or nifty newt.

 

Wednesday 28th July

Big Bug Hunt for Tots
Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Especially for fives and under; learn all about the minibeasts creeping in the undergrowth. Play a bug game and make a model minibeast.

 

Thursday 29th July

Famous Folklore
Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Listen to a story in our story telling area and follow a fairytale trail round the reserve. Make mud trolls and back at the centre, make a green man. Be prepared for mud!

 

Friday 30th July

Tots Teddy Bears Adventure

Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Go down to the woods for some sensory fun. Make your own teddy bear house and make a smelly cocktail for your bear. Create your own teddy bear mask to take home. Don't forget to bring your cuddly friends!

Search the Parkridge Centre for the strangest, creepiest creatures. Make your own creepy crawly craft.

NATIONAL PLAY DAY EVENTNational Play day

Little ones, ages five and under, join us at Parkridge to celebrate 'National Play Day'! Come along to play both in and out doors.

 

Thursday 5th August

Alfresco Art
Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Create your own wildlife masterpiece outside using natural materials. Collect more materials to take back inside create something really unique.

 

Friday 6th August

Predators of the Pond

Discover the deadly residents of the pond! Escape from dragonfly pond and design your own creature of the dark.

 

Tuesday 10th August

Trail Blazers!
Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Orienteer yourself around the nature reserve using a simple map. Solve the puzzles along the way to find out about the animals that live here. Make a dream-catcher to hang at home.

 

Wednesday 11th August

Fairytales for Tots

Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Come along and listen to some famous fairytales. Search for some fairytale friends on the reserve and play some other exciting fairytale activities. Make a craft to take home.

 

Thursday 12th August

Brilliant Bushcraft
Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Adventure into the wilds and build your own natural den. Get tribal and create a crazy totem pole to scare off the other tribes

 

Friday 13th August

Summer colours for Tots
Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Especially for those aged five and under. Come and explore the colours of the nature reserve. Search for the woolly worms and collect natural colours. Make a colourful craft to take home.

 

Monday 16th August

Nature's Detectives
Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Put your detective skills to the test and search the reserve for all manner of creatures. Follow a trail and make a mammal mask.

 

Tuesday 17th August

Folklore and Fairytales
Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Follow a fairytale trail round the reserve with help from Hansel and Gretel. Collect ingredients for a magic witches brew and make a green man. Back at the centre, make a model house and decorate it with sweets (please bring your own). Be prepared for mud!

 

Wednesday 18th August

If you go down to the woods today…

Tots, go to the woods and make your own teddy bear house. Make a smelly cocktail for your bear and create your own teddy bear mask to take home. Don't forget to bring your cuddly friends!

Pond Pirates

Ahoy! Collect gold coins for every pond creature you can find. Extra gold for those scallywags dressed the part. Make a floating model.

 

Friday 20th August

Wild Tales for Tots

Come and listen to some exciting wild stories. Meet our story telling friend and go on an adventure in the reserve. Make some sock puppets to take home.

 

Monday 23rd August

Tree Treats

Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Take a walk on the wild side and discover our beautiful old trees. Try bark and leaf rubbing and leaf bingo, decorate a tree and design your own tree-mendous crafts.

 

Tuesday 24th August

Beautiful Birds
Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Come and search for birdlife at the Parkridge Centre using binoculars and make your own brilliant bird feeder to take home.

 

Wednesday 25th August

Beautiful Birds for Tots

Junior Wild Food Forage

Especially for those aged 6 and above. Autumn is approaching! Come and discover the early signs on the reserve. Learn how plants and berries can be used for food. Have a taste!

 

Tuesday 31st August

Scarecrows and Scared Crows
Times: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Celebrate Harvest Festival - Join us for some scarecrow fun, complete the scared crow trail and build a scarecrow in teams.
