Eddie Asbery, Reserves Woodland Project Officer says, "Successful woodland management and tree-felling may seem to be poles apart, but planned tree-felling is a key feature of well-managed woodland. It ensures that the canopy does not become so dense that little else can grow - because there is not enough light and, contrary to common belief, many bird species nest in shrubs, not in large trees. Sensitive tree-felling therefore promotes an increase in bird species and the resulting brash piles are a haven for invertebrates - but this is a large project and we would very much like your help. Why not give us a ring?"
