Eddie Asbery, Woodland Project Officer
says, "On 17 January 1912 Robert Falcon Scott and four companions
reached the South Pole, only to discover that the Norwegian team
led by Roald Amunsen had reached it first. The disappointment was
cruel - and they all died trying to traverse the 800 miles to
safety, and Oates words, uttered when he left his tent for the last
time, have become well-known. The weather conditions during our
work parties are nothing like those faced by Scott's expedition,
but we do have a common thread, and that is teamwork. The
management of our reserves requires all kinds of skills, pooled as
an effective resource. Come and be part of the team - you may be
some time!!".
