Caroline Bailey, Reserves Biodiversity Officer says, "The long, hard winter has taken its toll on all of us in various ways, and things have been very tough from time to time. We might imagine that our wildlife adapts to the extremes of the weather much more readily than we do, but for birds this bitter weather is life-threatening. The snow blankets their food and the freezing temperatures mean that the water they so vitally need is desperately hard to find. The prospect of a dip in icy water may seem an appalling one, but birds need to bathe to keep their feathers in top condition to insulate them when the mercury plunges. Join our workshop and find out more about the ecology of birds, and how you can best help them."
