Saturday 14th August

Bat and Moth Spectacular
Time: 7pm - onwards
Everyone is welcome to join us for the chance to discover the nocturnal winged world! Meet in the classroom for an introductory talk on moths by local expert Dave Grundy followed by an introduction to bats. Have a close up encounter with live moth specimens from the Midlands before heading out onto the reserve to set moth traps and hunt for bats. The walk will end about 9pm but everyone is welcome to stay later to check the traps throughout the night (until midnight, or later) in order to survey the different species found at Brandon Marsh. Remember to wrap up against the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring a torch!

Indian (Himalayan) Balsam Clearance at Clowes Wood
Time: 10:00am - 1:00pm
Join volunteer warden Ron Hill for this introductory session helping to remove the highly invasive Indian (Himalayan) Balsam from this Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Location: Clowes Wood SSSI Nature Reserve, Earlswood nr Solihull Grid Reference (SP 102744). Please meet in the car park off Wood Lane

Friday 20th August

Pond Dipping and Surveying Workshop
Time: 6.30pm - 8.00pm
This workshop is aimed at the non professional who is interested in having a chance to relive their childhood and have a go at pond dipping. There will then be an opportunity to identify the invertebrates and amphibians found. The results of which will then be incorporated into the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust's ongoing pond survey and help us identify both seasonal and annual trends.
Cost: £3 per person or £4 for non WWT members. Price includes a contribution to the Education Team towards new equipment and resources. Places are confirmed upon receipt of payment in advance

Orthoptera Surveying Workshop
Time: 10.30am
This workshop is aimed at the non professional who is interested in helping us survey grasshoppers and crickets for local projects in Warwickshire. Learn more about the ecology and behaviour of grasshoppers and crickets. The workshop will involve both an
indoor ID session to help you improve your ID skills in the morning, and then an afternoon visit to see the animals in their natural environment.

Cost: £10 contribution to Warwickshire Dragonfly Group towards monitoring equipment. Places are confirmed upon receipt of payment in advance

Parkridge Weekend Work Party
Time: 10am - 3pm

Wednesday 29th September

Time: 9.30am - 3.30pm
Using your School grounds to deliver the Maths curriculum
For Foundation stage, Key Stage 1 and 2
Explore a range of activities which will support the maths curriculum, which can easily be done in school grounds, including activities linked to measuring, sorting, weight and size in a natural woodland environment, and how these activities link to the relevant curriculum.
Strong outdoor walking boots, plus warm and waterproof clothing recommended for this course.

Thursday 30th September

Tree identification
Time: 9.30am - 3.30pm
Brush up on your local broadleaved tree & leaf identification skills.
Part of this course will be indoors looking at how we identify trees and what tools we can use to help us identify trees, and then we will go on a walk round the 200 acre nature reserve and see how many different species we can identify.
Strong outdoor boots and warm waterproof clothing recommended for this course
