Sowe Valley Project
What is the project about?
The project aims to Engage and Enthuse local residents
to Enhance
and Enjoy
the river corridor and their local green space.
The River Sowe offers a wonderful
green haven for both people and wildlife - an escape to nature on
your doorstep. This project hopes to improve both the green spaces
themselves and opportunities for people to enjoy those spaces.
Peter Loat, Access to Nature Adviser for
the West Midlands Region, said "As a result of this grant a greater
number of people from diverse backgrounds will have the opportunity
to experience nature at first hand and learn new skills. Through
practical involvement they will also have a positive impact on
ensuring their local river valley and natural spaces meet the needs
of local communities and develop a real sense of reconnection with
the natural environment."

Where is the Sowe Valley Project based?
The Sowe Valley Project is based
along the River Sowe in east Coventry which flows through the wards
of Longford, Henley, Wyken, Lower Stoke and Binley and
Willenhall.
The Sowe Valley links four nature
reserves (including 3 managed by the Trust - Wyken
Slough, Stoke Floods and Stonebridge Meadows) and
connects communities along its length.
There is an 8½ mile Sowe Valley
Footpath which offers people the opportunity to walk its length
and enjoy the diverse habitats it has to offer.
