Solihull Youth Heritage Projects

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust is currently running three heritage projects for young people in the Solihull area. The aim of these projects is to get young people to research the fascinating heritage of local parks.

Participants are using a range of multimedia to record their findings, which will result in a short documentary style film for each project and interpretation boards. The information will be made available to the public in Solihull Central Library, local schools and on the internet.

Participants are interviewing members of the local community to discover memories and experiences of the parks. Intergenerational work is a key feature in these projects, as it allows participants to gain a greater understanding of the parks' heritage.

These projects provide the perfect opportunity for young people to find out more about their local greenspaces and to gain new skills by using different methods of research and using film-making equipment.

Participants also have the chance to get accreditation for the work they do through the John Muir Award or the Arts Award.
